When i was at college, during my first year, we hired a room in Westminster Central Hall for many of our lectures.  At the time Westminster Abbey was free, and it was a place that I often wandered through.  However the last time I was there was in 1981, so 40 years on I was really looking forward to the visit, and can say that ( Read more... )

Back in 1986 Tim & I went to a service at St Paul's Cathedral to celebrate the 450th anniversary of our school. As Nick wasn't able to go, we were able to sit under the dome, as we had 2 ex-students with 20 years of attendance. The reason that I went to London that particular weekend was because I wanted to go the the cenotaph service.  Sadly the Queen had to pull out at the last moment, but other than that it was a special morning -

On the 11/11 I went to The Imperial War Museum.  I have been a few times over the years, but like all museums, there is always something new to spot ... if you keep your eyes open!

The first set are from Trafalgar Square.  For 3 of the 4 years I was at college I used to walk across the square morning & evening, as the building is just round the corner ... so it was, as ever, lovely to revisit those 3 years of my teens & twenties.

As of tomorrow morning I am off to London for almost a week.  I wasn't able to go last year, so am looking forward to the trip.  As ever, it will be museums, and more museums.  This year I have had a to pre-book a lot of the visits, so will have to be less spontaneous than previous years, but it has been fun planning the trip ( Read more... )
